First time here, they do not take reservations so we had about a 20 minutes wait for a table of 3. service was quick and waiters were very friendly. Ordered the tea leaf salad , chicken, okra tofu spicy and the rice pudding with coconut milk. My favorite was the okra tofu, was delicious and fiery. Enjoyed my experience and will recommend.

Burma superstar is one of the solid Burmese restaurants in SF and honestly my go to spot if I'm craving Burmese food! I felt the prices were just a bit expensive (for me) but pretty normal for SF standards. I came here on a Thursday night around 6:30pm and was seated right away for a table of two. Our server was also very sweet, she came to check in on us frequently to ask how we were doing and if our food was good. We ordered: - Sticker fingers - 10/10 - these were SO yummy, my favorite dish of the night. The meat was so soft and tender and it was so flavorful. The caramelized glaze paired so well with the pork! - Nan Gyi Dok - 6/10 - coconut chicken curry sounded very good to me and the coconut flavor was okay but I thought the rice noodles were soggy. The texture of the noodles kind of ruined the dish for me. - Fiery Lamb - 9/10 - the lamb was so soft with every bite, and the flavor was so good! It had a good spice to it. The lamb also wasn't super gamey which I think some people would appreciate.

I eat everything on the menu... as much as my body can tolerate. Impeccable service coordination that makes one feel like, "I finally landed"... Close knit.

This was my second time at this location and the food did not disappoint. We got there a few minutes before opening and enjoyed a cup of hot Jasmine tea before being seated. The wait staff was friendly and inviting and helped us navigate the menu. The food was, excellent. We had the beef curry over coconut rice, a spicy chicken dish and noodles. The noodles were a little overcooked I think but otherwise everything was spot on. Great place for lunch.

This rating is going to be a little chaotic. First of all, this place blew our minds away. It did have a 30 minute wait but wow the food made it so so worth it. We got the tea leaf salad, jasmine rice, tea leaf rice, vegetable curry large, and mango shrimp. It was all so so delicious! I couldn't have enough of the tea leaf salad. I never personally get salads at restaurants but wow, I would get this in a heartbeat again. We also got the lychee iced tea which was super tasty! Now, for the weird part of our dining experience. In the middle of our meal, my boyfriend quietly pointed out that a rat was trying to climb onto the seat I'm seated at. Knowing him, I thought he was joking until I finally spotted the rat and freaked out and froze. We let the manager know and they spoke to us that they've called the pest control and that everything was handled. They did give us desserts to try to make our experience better but I couldn't get the rat out of my mind and basically kept my feet up the entire time. Now, you're probably wondering why I gave it a five star review. That was for the food itself. The door was wide open and it's San Francisco. Not the cleanest area to be in and the rat did seem like it came from outside rather than inside the restaurant. It was just unfortunate to see that and experience it.

Always great service. Arrived to a bustling restaurant around 1pm and got seated within 5 minutes. Got the Nan gyi thoke for my mom to try this time and it was great! She loved all the complex flavors that it had. She also loved the basil chicken with a strong lemongrass flavor.

Came on a Saturday evening, this is a popular place and we had not made reservations ahead. The wait for two people was expected 40 min, however we only waited about 20min. We dined outside, no heaters so being a jacket for the cool SF evenings. Service was prompt and efficient. Small groups of 4/5 would be ok. We ordered the Nan Gyi Dok, Eggplant With Garlic Sauce and Side - Coconut Rice, rose tea, ginger lemon tea. All very delicious, seasoned well and definitely would order again. Plating size was perfect for us, we even had leftovers. I will definitely be coming back to try their other dishes.

Another restaurant week, another excellent group dinner at Burma Superstar! Arrived around 6pm on the last day of sf restaurant week and were seated in about 30 minutes. For 65 dollars you get an app, a salad, 2 generous scoops of rice, and 2 entrees. We got 4 sets and tried a lot of stuff outside of my classic go to favorites of tea leaf salad, platha and dip, and coconut rice. Some new highlights: - burmese lamb curry: I've had this before but the lamb was especially fall apart tender. Still think this dish could do with a little more flavor as it's a bit bland compared to the other dishes, but definitely a good choice for the lamb itself. -veggie curry: this curry is a good amount of heat and flavor, loved the tartness from the large chunks of tomato and the heartiness of the other veggies -tofu tower: I don't often get tofu when eating out but this was really great, large pieces of silken tofu with a nice skin on the outside and the perfect amount of savory sauce to coat it, along with bok choy and bell pepper. Would pass on next time: chicken with fresh basil. This was fine and the chicken was tender (maybe velveted?) but overally minimal flavor. I did enjoy the peas as a fresh veggie to cut through the other heavier and richer dishes but would rather have just a dish of veggies. All this to say, I always love coming to Burma Superstar, and sf restaurant week has always been a great deal and reason to come out with friends!
